Below is some data from a questionnaire where the respondent was asked: “What is your favourite ice cream flavour?”. The respondents were grouped into age ranges and the flavour preference data was then analysed by age group (using a Nested IF). Download the file and follow along:

This arrangement of tabulated data — a set of data series — lends itself to a Stacked Column Chart.

2. Chart

Simply select the range of data, A2:G6 (labels included), activate the Insert menu and select the Stacked Column Chart option.

For completeness, enter custom text in the Chart Title and modify the Y-Axis if necessary.

It is now fairly easy to spot trends, for example, the data suggest that pre-teen children have a preference for Vanilla and Chocolate flavours, and the preference for Coffee-flavoured ice cream appears to increase with age.
